This flag of the FLNKS (New Caledonia/Kanaky) is unofficial, but the status of autonomy given in 1988 allowed New Caledonia to have emblems distinct of the emblems of France and the right to have a distinct emblem was gain in 1998.

The green of the flag symbolises the land of the ancestors, the soil, and the country. The red symbolises the blood given in the struggle for independance, socialism, and the unity of the Kanak people. The blue symbolises the sky and the surrounding ocean, the sovereignty in the Pacific Ocean of the Kanak people.
